What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We will always treat your personal data with the utmost respect and will never sell it to third parties. We will only ever use your data to fulfill and improve the services we offer you.

Our aim is to be responsible, relevant and secure when using your data. Whenever you provide personal information we will treat that information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We will process the personal information you have supplied to us to conduct and manage our business to enable us to give you the most appropriate information, service and products and provide the best and most secure experience. These are what we consider to be our ‘Legitimate Interests’. We endeavor at all times to keep your data accurate and secure, and to honor your data preferences.

When you participate in, access, purchase or sign up to any of our services, activities or online content, such as magazine subscriptions, newsletters, competitions or events, we receive personal information about you. While you visit our site, the WooCommerce platform will track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed

We will use the details you have shared to manage your subscription to our magazine, which includes sending the magazine, managing access to any digital version, taking secure payments, to fulfill any gift that was offered at the time of purchase, to handle any customer query you may have and to contact you via telephone, email, SMS and postal service with information relating to your magazine subscription. e.g. to thank for for subscribing, to notify you of the expiry date of your subscription, that a delivery to you may be delayed or to remind you of a password or to notify you of updates to our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policies or Terms of Use.

Direct marketing

We may use the details you share with us to send you offers and promotions by email, post, telephone or SMS wherever we have legitimate interest grounds to do so  and where you have not objected. We will provide a way for you to opt-out of receiving marketing promotions every time we contact you. You can also email our publisher at tina[dot]casagrand[at]gmail[dot]com to request your details are suppressed from all promotional campaigns. We won’t use your personal data for marketing purposes at all if you’ve told us not to.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
