It’s the 175th anniversary of Lebanon and Laclede County, Missouri!
Crossroads of the Ozarks, a project organized by photojournalist and Lebanon High School (LHS) art teacher Eric Adams, presents a book of new history, essays, photography and art by LHS students, local community members, and The New Territory publisher Tina Casagrand (LHS, 2008).
The New Territory Magazine, a nonprofit literary magazine, served as artist-in-residence.

The Process
Documentation
Starting in the fall, LHS students toured natural landmarks and historic sites, learned from historians, and participated in assemblies and art workshops that enhanced their understanding of the place where they live in the Missouri Ozarks.
Students in painting and photography classes created mural tiles, shot photos, and wrote captions for their best pieces.

Curation and Publication
Then, in the winter and spring, a select group of student editors worked with The New Territory to curate photos, collaborate on content and layout, and design the cover of a 32-page, full-color publication.
The New Territory team completed the design and copy editing, then sent it to the same professional printer we use for our own magazine.
