Our Mission

The New Territory Magazine is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on a mission to advocate and foster love and protection of the Great Plains, Ozarks, and Lower Midwest through publishing art and narrative journalism focused on personal, natural and societal stories.

Why Issue 15 is Worth Supporting

As you will see, Issue 15 aligns directly with our vision of a Lower Midwest where

  • marginalized communities and ecologies are seen and heard, (“Artificial Integrity” by Robert Langellier, ecosystem purity (or not) of Missouri fens // Feature, pg. 88. + “Louder than the Food Network” by Jess Brent, the crossroads of Osage life and Drummond lifestyle in Pawhuska, Oklahoma // Feature, pg. 44. + “Where the Tall Grass Sways” by Arin Yoon, a Kansas photographer’s reflections on family and place // Feature, pg. 98)
  • where journalism covers and is consumed by rural communities, (“Targeting Autonomy” by Amy De La Hunt, active shooter preparations in St. Louis assisted living facilities // Feature, pg. 34)
  • small businesses exist in an atmosphere that favors success, (product reviews from local businesses Pink House Alchemy in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Artemis Tea & Botanical in Omaha, Nebraska // Midwest Made, pg. 25)
  • youth and students are aware of the current challenges of their neighbors and environments, (“Authors to Themselves?” by Jeromiah Taylor, AI and the mutability of our scripts // Review, pg. 123)
  • and arts and culture are well-documented and platformed in our region. (A conversation with Missouri artist Gerard Rebmann on word play and the end times // Shop Talk, pg. 14)

… And 100+ pages more! Each of our issues is a gem, and 15 is no exception.
